Returning to Lovebytes, Olsen present three programmes of experimental film and sound art exploring different dimensional aspects of the cinema space.
Programme one will explore the space beyond the screen - image and sound as an architectural extension of the cinema. Programme two considers the screen as a threshold, window, aperture and membrane. And the final programme turns its attention to the auditorium itself - deconstructing the apparatus and the role of the audience within it.
Each section will feature contemporary films and videos by artists, alongside overlooked works from the history of avant-garde cinema. Moving images will be displaced by works of sound art played in darkness, and tea and homemade cake will be provided making the experience all the more absorbing.
Sound works by Phill Harding, Helena Gough and Bernd Schurer.
Films by Morgan Fisher, William Raban, Eve Heller, Bruce McClure, Maurice Lamaitre, Nicky Hamlyn, Katy Woods and more.
Olsen is a collective from Leeds organised by Joe Gilmore, Sarah Handley and William Rose. For the last three years they have been intermittantly screening experimental film/video with tea and homemade cake.
